Hearing and Sound

Today Lynfield College came to our school to teach us about sound and our ears

I learn't that washing machines are safe for your ears. I also learn't about decibels a washing machine is only 80 decibels 85 decibels is the limit. If it's over 85 decibels it is not safe to listen to.I Lean't that a rocket launch is 180 decibels and a whisper is 3 decibels. I learn"t that when you have a normal conversation
and the hair sells will stand straight and will look like a M but when someone shouts at you it will be wavy and you can't fix it. These are things you can do if you are near loud noise you can walk away or turn it down or put in some ear plugs or ear muffs.

Maths game: Place value war how to play

What you will need:
2 Players or more
Playing cards Ace to 9 (Ace=1).


How to play: You will need to give out the cards evenly between you and the players. And then once you have all of your cards you can not look at them.Now you flip 2 cards each.The first card you put down represents the tens. And the second card you put down represents the

 Ones for example I have 1 tens and 8 ones =18.
Whoever has the largest number wins and the other players give their cards that they put down to the winner. when all of your player's have three cards you have to put all three cards to make a three digit number for example I have 4 hundreds 6 tens 3 ones.

Zoo trip

2 weeks ago we went to the zoo we went into groups I was in

group 1 then we got our zoo booklets to write the answers.

 First we saw the turataras and the skinks I learnt that the turatara

has a third eye under the skin and I learnt that skinks lick there eyes to clean it.

I liked the seals the most because they were fast at swimming and when they swim they look like a missile

when the zoo keeper threw a shrimp and it drops in the water the seal will go after it.

When we went to the elephants I knew it was a Asian elephant because I saw it had wrinkly skin and small

ears and its back was a slope

After the other animals we saw we went back to the front of the zoo and waited for our bus.
